StudioRacks – Music Studio Desk – 001

Built from top-grade birchwood plywood StudioRacks Desk 001 is an ergonomic music studio desk, ideal for home studios and built to the high-quality standards we set ourselves.

The desk is available in 2 standard finishes, natural birch ply or light grey with the desktop finished in a top covering of black marmoleum.

There is 3u of 19” rack space passing through the back of the desktop. Behind the 3u top rack, there is a runway for a monitor screen to sit on. The desktop is cut away at two symmetrical points at the back to create a pair of nooks that will allow speaker stands to be positioned for nearfield monitors without taking up excessive space.

The lower rack has an additional 3u space whilst being set back which can be utilised for a small rack draw or 19” rack-mounted power supply, power distribution, or occasionally used patchbays. The desk is supplied with a 3u blank panel in this position so if it is not used the cabling from the top rack is hidden from the front view. A midway shelf below this prevents wiring cascading into the lower open-access storage area.

The pull-out keyboard trays protrude to allow a qwerty keyboard, computer mouse and still has room for a small midi controller keyboard or other equipment behind. Cable holes are provided behind the keyboard tray to allow wiring to run to the back area of the desk.

Construction

We are supplying these desks part built and will only need some basic level of hands-on construction to bring the desks to life.

Can it be handled and assembled by one person?

Yes, but it would be better with 2 people. The heaviest component will be approx. 25kg

How long will it take to assemble the desk?

Once in the room and unpacked we would anticipate it to take between 1 and 2 hours.

What tools do I need?

All you will need is a medium-sized cross-head screwdriver to fit the desk together.

What is the overall footprint of the desk?

860mm deep x 1385mm wide. The height of the desktop from the floor is 770mm. The 3u desktop rack sits 80mm above the desktop. Adjustable feet are utilised on the desk to give minor height adjustment for leveling on an uneven floor (up to 10mm)

1038mm

How far does the keyboard tray extend?

310mm from its closed position.

Delivery

6 weeks from order. We deliver to the mainland UK on a single standard pallet. It will be delivered by a third-party haulage company with standard curbside delivery terms. Someone has to be present on the arranged day to receive the pallet.

Can you deliver this desk outside of the UK?

At present we are not offering this service.

Desk 001 additional information

Can I have 4u of rack space on top of the desk and what extra cost?

Yes, at no additional cost. The amount of space behind the rack will be reduced by approx 40mm.

Can I have the desk without the 3u top rack?

Yes please state this when ordering.

How much knee clearance is there below the keyboard shelf.

You can set the keyboard shelf at 2 heights. At its lowest setting, you have 110mm of clearance for the keyboard giving a knee clearance height of 610mm. At the higher setting the clear height for equipment is 60mm giving knee clearance of 660mm.

Can you make this desk from one of your standard veneered finishes?

No. Birch ply is particularly suitable for the design of this desk.

Can I have a different colour other than light grey or natural?

We have a dark brown (similar to walnut) finish and can offer this darker woodgrain finish at a small additional cost of £20. Please contact us prior to ordering to confirm.

Can I have the desktop in grey or natural instead of the marmoleum black?

Yes. Please confirm at the point of order.

Can you make it narrower?

Yes, we can reduce the width at no extra cost. The smallest we make this desk is 1150m which is under 4ft.

Can you make the desktop straight without the cutout above the keyboard shelf ?

Yes, please email us at the time of purchasing to confirm your requirements.

Can you build speaker stands in a matching finish? If so how much?

Yes, but only as a custom build item built for you at the time we make your desk. We would need to confirm sizes and heights and are happy to get into this discussion with you. Likely price £200 to £300 per pair.

I have to get the desk parts up a small staircase. What is the largest piece?

The floor-standing rack unit which is delivered fully assembled measures 410mm x 530mm x 750mm high
